in the vineyard:
Selected organic vineyards in the Thracian Valley, just south of Plovdiv, the oldest city in Europe.
in the cellar:
Hand-picked and hand-sorted, grapes in the first half of October, hand-sorting, the grapes are laid to dry on straw mats for two months, then crushed and fermented with the stems.
Aging:
Aged for 18 months in Bulgarian oak barriques, followed by 12-month maturation in a temperature-controlled cellar before market release.
In the Glass:
A seductive red with layers of dark cherry, subtle tar, black chocolate and crushed raspberry upon a powerful and robust frame. Luscious and opulent, with mouth-coating tannins leading to a full body, which gracefully caresses the palate. The mineral-laden acidity gives the concentrated flavors a lift for a lasting, mouthwatering finish. A showcase of power and grace for Mavrud.
